Gas-Powered Clock Gets Energy Star Seal – PC MAGAZINE

“This is depressing. An audit by the Government Accountability Office found that it’s incredibly easy to secure an Energy Star label from the government, throwing the 18-year-old program’s value into question.

 The New York Times reports that in a nine-month study, four fictitious companies invented by the above accountability office sought Energy Star status for dehumidifiers, heat pumps, and even some comical devices like a gasoline-powered alarm clock and a space heater with a feather duster on top.

 Most of these devices won approval, despite only existing on paper and having less-than-green specifications. For example, not only does a gasoline-powered alarm clock sound ridiculous to begin with, but it even had the dimensions (again, on paper) of an electric generator.

 In addition, the investigation found that once a company registered as an Energy Star partner, they could download the proper logo and paste it on products even without winning approval. Auditors concluded that the program was “highly vulnerable to fraud,” according to the report.

The really scary thing about this is that it took the GOA 18 years to figure this out.  Another shining example of our amazingly efficient federal government at work!!!

Interesting Facebook debate…

My initial comment in response to my sister-in-laws – “I support my President” posting:

I just can’t support a Marxist dictator wannabe that surrounds himself with self-avowed communist and violent leftist that have actually blown up buildings in the US. I have so many friends that voted for him that are now frightened by what they are seeing. Pray for our Country!

Yup, the leftist are the violent ones. Unlike our peaceful right wing, red neck brethren who feel open access to guns is more important than open access to healthcare.
I’m surprised why in the news we only hear about the conservatives blowing up clinics & sending death threats to senators, probably because the liberals control the media. Fortunately, there are sane people like Glen Beck & Rush to show us the way.
My response to that:

Sam, it is so funny that you seem to be one of the folks the “peaceful” leftists/Marxist/Communist like Lenin and Stalin called the “useful idiots”. The evidence of the radical left in surrounding this President is overwhelming. People like Beck are not “making any of this up” . They are simply using the words of the haters of freedom and our very Constitution against them. To name just a few: Van Jones, Valerie Jarrett, Anita Dunn, Andy Stern, Cass Susstein, William Ayres and Jeff Jones and more recently his new “spiritual advisor”, Jim Wallace. who openly states that he believes in redistribution of wealth. I challenge you do to some research on any one of these scary individuals and then tell me if you agree with their radical beliefs and “fundamental transformation of the country”, which is well on the way to being realized.
The amazing thing about those on the left, rather than debate the actual facts, ie the words from the mouths of the radicals and their actions, they simply smear and denigrate the messenger. Hmmh, sounds like textbook Saul Alinsky. Wonder why you would call the overwhelmingly peaceful Tea Party patriots “red neck brethren”? Have you actually been to a Tea Party? Do you know anyone who was in DC on 9/12? The only violence associated with the Tea Party movement since last 4/15 has come from the left, Union thugs beating a black man and calling him a “ni##er, a leftist biting off the finger of a man attending a rally, threats, disgusting sexual references to “tea baggers” by the left and the formerly main stream media sycophants like Oberman, just to name a few…. We are being called Nazi’s and racists by Pelosi and her ilk.  I have been involved since last April 15th and have seen nothing but peaceful people from all walks of life, political party, age, gender and race participating in their Constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of speech. I have NEVER seen any violence at these gatherings, except for the paid union thugs who were sent with specific instructions to try and stir up trouble. I even have personally seen the calls to actions sent to these mobsters by the “Organizing for America” folks (Obama’s group). As to the so-called, trumped-up cries of harassment and threats from the likes of Pelosi, can’t you see them for what they really are? Just another attempt to poke us in the face so that someone does do something stupid and violent. Isn’t it a bit disingenuous that when Stupak was getting death threats for holding up the vote on healthcare that no one even mentioned it? Where is the coverage of that horrible and deranged college professor that shot her colleagues when it was found out that she was avowed leftist and huge Obama supporter. The man who flew the plane into the building in TX was obviously a communist, the man who shot and killed so many at the Holocaust museum was also a leftist and fan of Obama. It is obvious that these links are not only being ignored by those in the media, but that there is concerted effort to not cover anything about the radical and violent people who surround our President. Where is the media that hounded GW Bush doggedly and would jump at the chance to connect him to anything unseemly, factual or not. Let’s be honest here, the media is not doing their job, they have an agenda to push and they simply refuse to report on anything that in any way besmirches this president or his administration. If you are intellectually honest, you can at least admit that.

I would love to debate you on the actual facts, do you agree with the perverted ideas of “social justice” that the left is preaching? Do you believe in redistribution of wealth? Do you believe that “charity” taught by Jesus meant giving voluntarily of oneself, or have you bought in the Progressive lie that is means that the government should steal from one to give those they feel are “worthy”?
If you are interested in a great non-partisan book on our founding principles and Constitution, I recommend “The 5000 Year Leap; The Miracle that Changed the World” by Cleon Skousen. It is simply a very in-depth study of our founders and their vision for this great country of ours!
I can tell you what my beliefs (not party politics are). I believe in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. I believe that this country was divinely inspired. I believe in the premise of personal liberty and even more so, personal responsibility. I believe that people should be allowed to succeed, but maybe even more important, that they should be allowed to fail on their own merit. I believe that our leaders should be men and women of virtue and moral character. I believe that charity starts at home. I believe that the government does not belong in homes, our schools, the raising of our children or in our churches. I believe in both the basic good and potential for evil in all people. Most of all, I believe that our founders were men of incredible foresight and had almost a prophetic ability to predict the rise and falls of great nations. I believe in “American Exceptionalism”, that doesn’t mean I don’t acknowledge that as a country we have made mistakes.
I, like many millions of Americans, are now awake and are on a quest for more facts about our founding and the great men responsible for putting together the greatest nation on Earth! I am really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and basic, fundamental beliefs!

Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America ‘s future. He is the best thing ever.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America ‘s resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That’s why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America .

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips — they’ve gotten off the fence. They’ve woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven’t seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we’ve slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and “disabilities.” Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

In the time of Barack Obama, Black Panther members stand outside polling places in black commando uniforms, slapping truncheons into their palms. ACORN — a taxpayer-supported organization — is given a role in taking the census, even after its members were caught on tape offering advice to set up child prostitution rings. A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers’ union — whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense — is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

I don’t know about you, but the other day I was at the courthouse doing some business, and I stepped into the court clerk’s office and changed my voter affiliation from “Independent” to “Republican.” I am under no illusion that the Republican party is perfect, but at least they’re starting to awaken to the fact that we cannot sustain massive levels of debt; we cannot afford to hand out billions of dollars in corporate subsidies; we have to somehow trim our massive entitlement programs; we can no longer be the world’s policeman and dole out billions in aid to countries whose citizens seek to harm us.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They’re organizing, they’re studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they’re reading history and case law, they’re showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 years — the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.

We have lost the battle, but not the WAR!

Good morning to all! I wanted to pop a quick note to all of my sisters in arms this morning b/c I know how demoralized, depressed and exhausted we all feel by the hijacking of our Constitution yesterday. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that the administration along with The Princess of Darkness herself, Speaker Pelosi were able to intimidate and buy the votes they needed. Chicago style, thug politics have trumped reason, honor and principles. I had been praying fiercely that God would “thunk” the heads of the waivering Dems. and give them a moment of clarity at the 11th hour, but alas, it was not to be. I am particularly disappointed in Stupak, having hoped beyond hope that he might actually be a God-fearing man of principles and values (what was I thinking…). He knows that the Executive Order signed by the Exalted One is not worth the paper it is written on b/c the President cannot simply trump existing law, which the HC bill now is (or will be when it is signed by “he whose name cannot be mentioned”. I simply cannot understand the pro-life Dems allowed themselves to beaten into submission.
Ah well, it is a new day and the fight must continue in earnest. We cannot stop, this is just what the Progressives and Liberals are counting on. To my surprise, I am not as suicidal this morning as I thought I would be. I prayed last night and knew that this whole mess is in God’s hands. He has a plan and I am trying very hard to have faith that we will know how to proceed from here.
My husband, son and I have been reading aloud from “The 5000 Year Leap” this past week and it has inspired me. It has made it clear to me that we are repeating the history of our forefathers right now. The only difference is that the tyrranical leaders are on our soil instead of in England. In fact, we have more to revolt against today than our founding fathers did over 200 years ago!
I guess all I can say is that we CANNOT GIVE UP, we must step up our fight and as Tammy so eloquently put it in her note, we need to make changes in our own counties and states right now and in the fall. Start calling the Attorney General and our local state legislators and demaning a lawsuit against this un-Constitutional bill/law!
Call the Republicans and thank them for continuing the fight, let them know we stand behind them!
All I can say is that without the company of the ARW, I think I would be completely insane by now. Thanks for all of your support. Let’s make sure that we are keeping each others spirits up in the dark days ahead!

Constitutional Lawyer evaluates Healthcare Bill

The Truth About the Health Care Bills – Michael Connelly, Ret. Constitutional Attorney (He is writing about the bill passed by the House in November)

Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.

To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.

The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business, and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats, and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the government.

However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.

The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people, and the businesses they own.

The irony is that the Congress doesn’t have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with! I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.

This legislation also provides for access, by the appointees of the Obama administration, of all of your personal healthcare direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide…

If you decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if you have private insurance that is not deemed acceptable to the Health Choices Administrator appointed by Obama, there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a tax instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn’t work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the due process of law.

So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much, out the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law It doesn’t stop there though.

The 9th Amendment that provides: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;

The 10th Amendment states: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.

I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights… Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to “be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution.” If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it, without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

For those who might doubt the nature of this threat, I suggest they consult the source, the US Constitution, and Bill of Rights. There you can see exactly what we are about to have taken from us.

Just fretting over the “fundamental transformation” that our dictator in chief promised us after the election last fall. I am truly frightened about the damage to our republic if this monstrosity passes. Keep calling those morons in Washington and telling them no!
